For parks, museums, districts & destinations
Bring a Space-Time Adventure Tour to your place
We've built AR walking tours of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair and New York's Central Park. The next one could be your park, campus, main street, museum grounds or historic district — built on the same story-first, accessible, Niantic-powered platform.
What you get
A Space-Time Adventure Tour is a self-guided, narrative walking experience that lives on visitors' own phones. It works on the visitor's schedule, in any weather your paths are open, and it never calls in sick. Each tour includes:
- A real story. Comedy writers and historians turn your site's archives into a guided adventure with characters, missions and a reason to walk to the next stop.
- Archival media. Historic film, photographs and audio appear in place, where they happened.
- Augmented reality that's anchored to your landmarks. Niantic's Visual Positioning System places 3D content at centimeter accuracy, so a scene plays out on the actual statue, fountain or façade.
- Spatial audio and wayfinding. The soundtrack guides visitors between stops, hands-free.
- Accessibility built in. Non-visual gameplay, spatial audio beacons, captions and haptics, developed with blind media artist Andy Slater. Every tour works for blind, low-vision, deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors.
- The app and the upkeep. We publish, host and maintain the tour, and we can add stops, seasons and languages over time.
Who it's for
City and county parks. Museums with grounds, campuses or neighborhoods to interpret. Business improvement districts and main-street associations. Tourism boards and convention bureaus. Universities and historic campuses. Festivals and anniversaries that want something visitors can do on their own, all season long.
How a project runs
- Discovery. We walk the site with you, dig into the archive, and find the story only this place can tell.
- Route and script. Stops, missions, characters and the historical beats — reviewed with your team and your historians.
- Production. Voice recording, spatial audio, 3D and AR scenes, on-site scanning for VPS anchors.
- Field testing. We walk it, again and again, with sighted and non-sighted testers.
- Launch and beyond. App Store release, launch materials, guided-tour options, analytics, and updates.
Ways to work together
Commission a custom tour for your site. License an existing Space-Time Adventure Tour format for your destination. Add a Space-Time stop to an event or exhibition. Or book guided group tours of an existing adventure. Budgets scale with the number of stops and the amount of AR, and we're happy to start with a single-stop pilot.
